Universal Yoga Tradition, The

In every age and culture there have been the few who have searched within themselves for the source of light and goodness. Their quest found its expression in the tradition of yoga which flows across the diverse schools in Egypt and Greece, in Sufi lore, in the teachings of Buddhists and Taoists, in the Christian tradition, in the Tantra and Vedanta.

Universal Wisdom Tradition and the TS,The

Every great religion has two parts, an inner and an outer, a spirit and a body, 'the knowledge of God' which is 'Eternal Life', and its dogmas, rites and ceremonies. The inner part, 'the wisdom of God in a mystery', spoken of by St Paul as known to 'the perfect', is that which has, since the third century, been known in the West as Theosophy: in the East it has been known for ages under its Samskrt equivalent, Brahma-Vidya,  God-Wisdom, God-Knowledge, or God-Science.

Universal Law of Life, The

These two lectures, delivered at the Chicago World Parliament of Religions 1893 by Annie Besant, are printed here with brief, historical comments by Joy Mills in a Preface, where she says:

'In these, we may find both practical suggestions for a mode of living consonant with Theosophical ideas and inspiration to act in such a manner as may bring about that global transformation which signals the dawning of the 'brotherhood' enunciated in the First Object of the Theosophical Society'.

Ultimate Reality and Realization, The

This treatise which is entitled Siva-Sutra in Sanskrit belongs to the school of Kashmir Savism. The philosophy underlying Siva-Sutra is based upon the existence of an Ultimate Reality which manifests itself as the whole universe, each monad being merely a separate centre of consciousness and power in that Reality  and having universal consciousness and universal power (Siva and Sakti) hidden within him in a potential form.

Truth, Beauty and Goodness

TRUTH, BEAUTY AND GOODNESS are interrelated. While Beauty is the garment of Truth, Goodness is Beauty revealed in action. Many philosophers and poets have spoken about the identity of these three aspects of Reality, how each one leads to the other. Discovery of Truth or Beauty is the natural aspiration of every right thinking individual. Clarity and undisturbed serenity are essential requirements for perceiving Truth. Theses qualifications cannot be acquired in the absence of pure and righteous living.

To Those Who Mourn

This book is a source of comfort for those who grieve out of ignorance.

We may think that death has snatched away one dear to us. But the soul is immortal. Man is a soul and has a body. Death only means putting the body aside, for there is life after death and one's dear one lives on the spiritual body and may be contacted during sleep  or deep in one's consciousness.

Three Gates and Other Stories
